If you’re just getting into RC rock crawlers, here’s a tip: steer clear of the smaller trucks as your first rig. While little crawlers like the SCX24 or the Kyosho minis can be a blast, they’re really best as a second or even third addition to your collection.  They’re more of a novelty than a serious trail machine, and although they seem cheap up front—Kyoshos or the SCX24 , they’re not exactly a bargain when you consider what you’re getting.  You’ll get far more value (and enjoyment) if you put that money towards a proper 1/10th scale crawler from the get-go. For anyone just starting out, you can’t go wrong with either the Axial SCX10 II  or the Traxxas TRX-4 Sport. These two are widely considered the best tried-and-true rock crawlers on the market, with stacks of aftermarket support and an enthusiastic community behind them.
